Inauguration of the first Piecitos Colorados school in Central America
The Sonia María Mejía institution in Honduras marks the beginning of our Development Cooperation programme in the region.

Piecitos Colorados is the Development Cooperation programme of the Prosegur Foundation that seeks to improve the comprehensive education and quality of life of children living in vulnerable contexts in Latin and Central America, starting with the school as an engine for change.
Thus, the educational institution Sonia María Mejía has become the first educational centre in Honduras.
An inauguration dressed in yellow
During the inauguration, the first team of Prosegur Volunteers in the country gathered, who dressed in yellow to train and teach an educational activity of augmented reality together with the students of the school.
A very special and emotional day attended by more than 80 people, including members of the educational community (students, teachers, parents), local authorities and representatives of the Company's senior management in the region.

Improvements in Infrastructure and Resources
The Sonia María Mejía school now has two new classrooms, toilets, desks and a library as well as a library to encourage reading and the development of literacy skills.
In the framework of this inauguration, books were also handed out to the schoolchildren and recreational and educational activities were carried out, focused on enhancing digital skills.
Future initiatives
Before the end of the year, the school will receive its first sports field and a school vegetable garden to promote the physical development of the pupils and strengthen healthy eating habits.
In addition, as part of the educational improvement phase of the programme, computers will be donated to work with the children on 21st century skills.

Impact of the Piecitos Colorados Programme
With this new centre, the Prosegur Foundation will directly benefit 36 primary school children and their families, as well as teachers in the community, through training in innovative methodologies.
The Piecitos Colorados programme already has 38 active schools in various countries in Latin and Central America, benefiting more than 5,000 children and helping to extend the social footprint of the company in Latin and Central America. Since its inception in 2006, more than 10,000 children in the region have been positively impacted by the initiative.
