"Because children's dreams cannot be stolen"

With this motivation, our protagonist helps to build the future in the Piecitos Colorados schools.

My name is Wilson Benítez and I am a volunteer at the piecitos school in Misiones (Argentina).

I joined Prosegur in 2001 as an Armored Unit Custodian, and I have been growing in the company, going through several positions, until I currently work as a Risk Management Assistant.

The start of something big

In 2007, the company was looking for schools to join Piecitos Colorados, and at that time it was decided to incorporate “Provincial School No. 800”, located in El Dorado, Province of Misiones, into the program. At that time, I remember that I used to spend long days in the armored truck driving along part of the National Route No. 12 where the little school is located; and so I constantly saw the school, the children and their teachers.

I am one of the few employees to know the school before and after the infrastructure works. I remember that when I entered the school for the first time I was overcome with a feeling of helplessness and sadness, because I could not believe that in the XXI century there was so much inequality. I saw a building built with wooden boards, through which not only the cold but also dangerous insects of the area passed; where there were no proper toilets, no decent kitchen, and where most of the students were malnourished.

For a better future

From that moment on, my purpose was to do whatever I could to help in this program that the company was initiating. So, we formed a group among our co-workers, and we did our bit as volunteers. Since then I am part of a team that takes care of bringing food purchased with the proceeds of the Nutritional Collection; the backpacks, sneakers and supplies that the Prosegur Foundation delivers every year; the toys and clothes that we collect with friends and family... Accompanying Fundación Prosegur selflessly in this project is one of the tasks that makes me feel most proud.

I remember one day when we took the food to the school canteen, just when lunch was about to be served. I was thrilled to see the faces of the children waiting for their food, all sitting with their respective plates and glasses.... I can't forget those little faces of happiness and innocence! At that moment I remembered a phrase of one of the precursors of Piecitos Colorados, Roberto Montesinos, when he said “Children's dreams are not stolen”. And I believe that this is the basis of what drives us to continue betting on the future of these children hand in hand with Fundación Prosegur.
